Pandora – The Music Genome Project

Thanks to Liam Fisher for the information about this radio streaming website with a difference:

“Ever since we started the Music Genome Project, our friends would ask:

Can you help me discover more music that I’ll like?

Those questions often evolved into great conversations. Each friend told us their favorite artists and songs, explored the music we suggested, gave us feedback, and we in turn made new suggestions. Everybody started joking that we were now their personal DJs.

We created Pandora so that we can have that same kind of conversation with you.”

  • I have only just jumped on this site and it is fantastic. Such a good idea and works really well. Why has Microsoft not seen this and tried to bring it to Xbox 360 Live? This would be a great addition to the 360.

  • Well anything is possible with the Xbox 360, it is more dependent on whether Microsoft want to have the feature. Would be great to listen to podcasts, radio shows and other audio streaming media through the Xbox 360 without the need for Windows Media Center etc.

I know MS are planning the Monthly Music Star on Live but something live this would be great. Maybe have it updated so people can buy the tracks with Gamerpoints or from MSN music and it would be another thing MS can show people the 360 can do, well before the PS3 turns up.

  • Been posting for help all over the world,

Have some time, how can I be of assistance…

I was a blissfull user of Pandora and like you broadened my suprisingly meager music taste (who would have imagined, I thought I knew a ton about music as I have the largest LEGAL collection of any person I know). And made additional purchases into my arsenal of artists that most people haven’t even heard of, and how else would I have found them without Pandora. However I live in the UK and unfortunately those licensing laws have shut down Pandora operations in the UK, I have been trying to find even a PC equivalent since.

If someone would just find a way to represented the consumer vs. the big 3 on a global level, I think there would be more than enough support to pull it off…:((:((:((
