I have seen this topic discussed on many technology sites and as excellent as this console really is it is not going to deter the hardcore PC gaming fans in the slightest.

I used to be quite an avid PC gamer, in fact I think I was around at just the right time when point and click adventures ruled the world and new technologies such as 3D cards like the 3DFX and SoundBlaster EAX came on to the scene. These were really huge steps for PC gaming and indeed gaming in general as every day seemed to bring something new to the arena.

PC gaming then became very stale for me after purchasing the Xbox 1. I personally just got fed up with the constant worry about updating drivers, downloading patches, configuring each and every game to fine tune it to your hardware, buying expensive 3D cards, Windows interfering with MSN pop ups etc and the list goes on, but will it actually mean the death of PC gaming even though Windows is not exactly the best gaming environment when you consider all the software that is installed. Not at all, however for those who play more recreationally, something like the Xbox 360 is something very special indeed.

You will always have your PC gaming First Person Shooter fans who crave only the keyboard and mouse experience and will never touch a console controller for this genre therefore turning them off straight away. Their constant desire to add modifications and personalize far beyond what you can do on the Xbox 360 such as over clocking, water cooling, those horrid neon lights everywhere and having your own unique gaming rig.

Both have a place in today’s gaming world, but you will always have the people who whine about one or the other. Let’s just enjoy our differences as both can add a rewarding experience for a particular genre. I would never play a point and click adventure on a console, just wouldn’t work the same!
