Today I have released my Inherit the Earth Soundtrack (version 1.1). As usual, my soundtracks are intended for use with the ScummVM software so you can relive the wonders of classic point and click adventure games with my version of the music. Thanks to the original publishers for allowing a ‘fan made’ edition to be released.

Point and click adventure Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb originally released in 1994, featuring a selection of characters based on animals, who stood confidently upright and could even hold a meaningful conversation. The introduction also mentioned the mysterious disappearance of humans, so where did they go?

My original video trailer for Simon the Sorcerer was looking a little dated as it was uploaded way back in 2007. So recently I invested a little time and energy creating a brand new one taking full advantage of YouTube’s newer widescreen aspect and higher quality video options. James Woodcock, creator of the ScummVM Music Enhancement Project has recently released updated versions of previously available soundtracks reaching version 2.0, which include Simon the Sorcerer and Discworld.  Discworld can now be played with the latest SVN versions of ScummVM implementing James Woodcock’s enhanced music.  Inherit the Earth, which comes under his ‘Fan Creation Soundtrack’ is a homage to the title and is now also downloadable from his personal website.

Available in High and Low bitrate versions, all three soundtracks are free to download and inspired by the original games and the ScummVM software. To install, make sure you have the latest version of ScummVM, create a directory called ‘Music’ within the location you have Inherit the Earth on your hard drive. For best quality (although not mandatory), start the ScummVM program and select Inherit the Earth. Now select [Edit Game], switch to Audio tab and set Sample Rate to 44kHz.
