Podcast #3 – Voodoo from Fragdolls UK Interview

Interview with the lovely Voodoo from the Fragdolls UK, female online gamers. This was actually recorded about a month ago and was going to feature on a gaming site I help out with, however due to the administration being extremely busy with other content at the moment, the radio show has been put on hold.

I didn’t want anyone to miss out, so you can now listen to my interview, which I setup through my own contacts, recorded, edited and published, now here on my blogcast. The Fragdolls are a collection of female gamers, who wish to catch the attention of other ladies to get into the online gaming arena.

I already have about 4 interviews planned for future shows, all of which I hope you will find of interest. This edition of the show is at 40kb/sec instead of previous ones at 32kb/sec, as I hope it will improve the quality quite a bit, without sacrificing file space.

Also important to note, is that I seem to suggest Xbox Live is a one off payment, what I actually meant was that it is a one off payment per year subscription at a very reasonable price.

This interview was recorded using Skype and the application Skylook. To find out more about Skylook, check out where I interviewed Jeremy Hague, one of the team behind the application.

  • Hi James,

I just wanted to ask something about your interview with Voodoo. I thought it was really good and I hope that you do more interview like that. I just wanted to know, what did you use to record the interview. I have a potential interview soon and have never done this before. Any tips and suggestions most welcome.

Thanks for you time in advance.

  • Hi Raide

I used the application Skype and recorded using a program called Skylook: http://www.skylook.biz

Skylook is not free, however I really suggest you try the program as it has extensive features and a trial period where everything is available to try for free.

My main suggestion would be to have a list of questions ready before the interview so you are not left with a long pause. Also remember you can edit the interview as there will more than likely be moments that just don’t fit in with the show, something like Audacity is a great free sound editor. This also takes pressure off yourself if there is a long pause or a worrying amount of ‘erm, erm’ etc.

Last of all, make sure you are interested in what the other person is saying and try to engage them on a personal level so it becomes more like a friendly chat. When that happens the interview always sounds so much better and is far more enjoyable.

Good luck with your first interview, if you have any more questions let me know.
